I am a relatively serious amateur photographer. Since 2017, I studied the technical aspects of digital photography such as sensor sizes, lens types, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc., in part to gain a better understanding of today’s digital culture but more importantly because I enjoyed keeping a visual record of my daily life and field excursions in a way that expresses my personal aesthetic.
Below you will find a selection of my favourite photographs taken in the last few years. With a few exceptions, most were taken using the Sony mirrorless cameras a6500, a7ii, and a7siii and my personal smartphones, LG G4, LG V20, and Huawei P30 Pro.

Hong Kong
Highlights of my sabbatical stay in Hong Kong during the academic year 2020-21. Travel during the Covid-19 pandemic is not something I want to do ever again. Most people associate Hong Kong with skyscrapers and urban jungle. Hong Kong has a wonderful network of hiking trails and gorgeous natural landscapes. Below you will find some examples.
The historical village is the Tang clan village in the famous Pingshan Heritage Trail. Over the years, I’ve organized guided tours for my Seoul National University students as well as Hong Kong students and local friends of this settlement that dates back 900 years.
